Are you wasting your time promoting your book on Social Media?

This is a conversation I have with authors often.

They say the same thing, “I’m promoting my book like crazy on Facebook and Twitter, but nothing seems to happen.”

By “nothing,” they mean No Book Sales.

As someone who gets on Social Media several times during the day (and I mean Facebook, Twitter, G+ and LinkedIn) I can see why. Most of the time if the post is coming from an author, the post is the same “BUY MY BOOK, BUY MY BOOK, BUY MY BOOK.”

It’s like authors don’t understand the meaning of Social Media – being SOCIAL. Share more than just the latest news of your book, or better yet, just STOP telling us about your book! If you’re doing all your other marketing correctly, we’ll hear about your book through other channels. Which is much more pleasant than having you posting about it on our feeds over and over again.

Here’s a great article by author Mary Walters, and her take on the whole Social Media marketing plan for authors, Promoting your Book on Facebook and Twitter is a Total Waste of Time.

Thank you Mary for allowing me to share this article with the Page Readers audience!
