The Seven Deadly Sins of White Christian by Carter Heyward (.ePUB)
📮 The Seven Deadly Sins of White Christian by Carter Heyward (.ePUB) Hear the call to overcome today's culture of hate and bring healing and hope into our life together. While right-wing conservatives dare to call themselves Christians as they tear down equality and justice, commit horrific acts of violence, and fan the flames of fascism in America, Carter Heyward issues a call to action for Christians to truly hear God's message of peace and love. Heyward shows how American Christians have played a major role in building and securing structures of injustice in American life. Rising tides of white supremacy, threats to women's reproductive freedoms and to basic human rights for gender and sexual minorities, the widening divide between rich and poor, and increasing natural disasters and the extinction of Earth's species—all point to a world crying out for God's wisdom. Followers of Jesus must first call out these ingrained and sinful attitudes for what they are, acknowledging what the culture of white Christian nationalism is doing to our country and our world, and commit ourselves ever more fully to generating justice-love, whoever and wherever we are. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Carter Heyward Size 400KB Category Non-Fiction > Faith, Beliefs & Philosophy File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/lilSU41Ued9H https://devuploads.com/conkbpcch18q

The Dying Child by Kristine Henriksen Garroway (.PDF)
📮 The Dying Child by Kristine Henriksen Garroway (.PDF) The death of a child is perhaps the most painful, heartbreaking, and seemingly-unnatural experience we have the displeasure of living with. Yet it is difficult to say with certainty whether or not this sentiment was shared by the inhabitants of ancient Israel. Many studies have explored death in ancient societies by examining types of burial, burial rites, biblical notions of death and the afterlife, care for the dead, even cults of the dead – yet no single study has been devoted to children and death in ancient Israel. The study of childhood death is tightly entwined with the concerns of a field that is relatively new to the scholarship of ancient Israel: personhood. An exploration of the concept of personhood is needed in the context of childhood death. In The Dying Child, Kristine Henriksen Garroway argues for a stronger position of the child in current archeological trends. Many archaeologists hesitate to ascribe various domestic objects to children, despite their obvious presence in the ancient home. This functionally ignores an entire class of people in the study of death. In acknowledging the personhood of children in burials and other deathly-rituals, Garroway considers emotional and personal aspects of ancient Israeli life – filling a critical gap in our understanding of this culture. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Kristine Henriksen Garroway Size 13MB Category Non-Fiction > History File Type PDF 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/F7NtjEaPHd9d https://devuploads.com/v5ogyha6clt3

No Place To Lay My Head by Anthony Richardson (.ePUB)+
📮 No Place To Lay My Head by Anthony Richardson (.ePUB)+ The eye-opening account of the forgotten and tumultuous Eastern Front in World War Two. Perfect for fans of first-person memoirs from the Second World War. By 1944 Byelorussia had been brutally occupied by Nazi Germany for three years, but now the Red Army were coming. The nation was torn apart as violence erupted between the ruthless Communist partisans and the equally menacing Nazi forces. Sixteen year old Sasha Nioman’s brother was carried off and forced to join the local partisans, leaving his family at the mercy of Nazi reprisals. To stop this from occurring Sasha was given little option but to join the German Army with the 34th Battalion Field Police — a force of anti-partisan legionaries of mixed nationalities commanded by Wehrmacht officers. No Place To Lay My Head charts Sasha’s terrifying ordeal through the Second World War as he was forced to fight for an occupying force he hated. This book provides an eyewitness account into the brutal atrocities committed by both Nazi and Soviet forces on the Eastern Front, including the massacre of six hundred defenceless men by the Russian army, of which Sasha was one of only a handful of survivors. This was not the end of Sasha’s war, however. He was sent to the Western Front to stem the Allied advance but his officer’s fled in the face of the American onslaught and he gave himself up. It was only now that he was able to fight against the Nazis, initially joining the Free Polish Army before serving in Italy as a member of the British Forces. Anthony Richardson charts Sasha’s unique journey through the Second World War in exquisite detail. After the war Sasha moved to Britain and through a number of interviews he gave his remarkable story to the author. It should be essential reading for anyone interested in an eyewitness account into a much-overlooked front of this brutal war. ‘It has the stamp of authenticity and is a most valuable and timely addition to the literature on guerrilla war.’ Otto Heilbrunn ♻️ Book's Info: Author Anthony Richardson Size 1MB Category Non-Fiction > Biographies & Memoirs File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/3zMIbbqjHeGU https://devuploads.com/8r43c3buf94y

Revolt in the Boardroom by Alan Murray (.ePUB)
📮 Revolt in the Boardroom by Alan Murray (.ePUB) Throughout the 20th century, American corporations were governed by autocratic, almost unaccountable chief executives. Their word was law and the only check on their power was a board of directors composed of their friends and allies. Then, in a stunning reversal, a momentous series of firings deposed the heads of some of the world's best-known companies: AIG, Morgan Stanley, Boeing, Hewlett-Packard and Pfizer, just to name a few. Formerly unchallenged CEOs found themselves under fire, often from their own handpicked boards. The number of deposed executives is astonishing. In 2004, the leaders of 600 companies were asked to leave. That number more than doubled in 2005 and reached 1,400 companies in 2006. Flexing new muscles, directors are assuming new and unfamiliar responsibilities. In Revolt in the Boardroom, Alan Murray reveals the inner workings of the new seat of power. Using the access afforded to him by his influential Wall Street Journal column, Murray tells the story of three seminal board revolts—the now-famous Hewlett-Packard drama, the ousting of Boeing's Harry Stonecipher and the end of the reign one of the world's most autocratic executives, Hank Greenberg at AIG. Murray goes further to chart the history of the corporation, the rise of governance and the effects of the new power gained by outside institutions like hedge funds and interest groups. Through it all, Murray shows how the job of chief executive has rapidly and permanently changed. Leaders like A. G. Lafley and Jeff Immelt govern instead of rule, build alliances and support instead of dictating direction and pay careful attention to a broader range of stakeholders than ever before. Revolt in the Boardroom is the first look at the new world of corporate power and the last word on the transformational events of the last two years. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Alan Murray Size 1MB Category Non-Fiction > Educational File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/iKr3Ws244w1D https://devuploads.com/35h4axejl6b9

Zappa the Hard Way by Andrew Greenaway (.ePUB)
📮 Zappa the Hard Way by Andrew Greenaway (.ePUB) 'Zappa The Hard Way' is the story of Frank Zappa's last ever world tour that ended in mutiny. In 1988 Frank Zappa toured with a twelve-piece band that had rehearsed for months, learned a repertoire of over 100 songs and played an entirely different set each night. It is why, in Zappa's own words, it was "the best band you never heard in your life" - a reference to East Coast American audiences who never got the chance to see this particular touring ensemble. Zappa appointed bass player Scott Thunes to rehearse the group in his absence. In carrying out this role, Thunes was apparently abrasive, blunt and rude to the other members and two factions quickly developed: Thunes and stunt guitarist Mike Keneally on the one side; the remaining nine band members on the other. The atmosphere deteriorated as the tour progressed through America and on to Europe. Before leaving Europe, Zappa told the band that there were ten more weeks of concerts booked in the USA and asked them: "If Scott's in the band, will you do the tour?" With the exception of Keneally, they all said "no". Rather than replace Thunes, Zappa cancelled almost three months of concerts and never toured again - claiming to have lost $400,000 in the process. 'Zappa The Hard Way' documents that tour. If you think touring can be fun, think again! Yes there were groupies and the usual paraphernalia associated with rock 'n' roll, but there was also bitterness and skulduggery on a scale that no one could imagine. Author Andrew Greenaway has interviewed the surviving band members and others associated with the tour to unravel the goings on behind the scenes that drove Zappa to call a halt to proceedings, despite the huge personal financial losses. This paperback edition includes a foreword by Zappa's sister Candy, and an afterword by Pauline Butcher, Zappa's former secretary and author of 'Freak Out! My Life With Frank Zappa', 'Zappa The Hard Way' might just be the best book you've never read in your life! ♻️ Book's Info: Author Andrew Greenaway Size 1MB Category Non-Fiction > Biographies & Memoirs File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/izp9RB2Mur8a https://devuploads.com/0rkqqyvsbmut

Animals, Robots, Gods by Webb Keane (.ePUB)
📮 Animals, Robots, Gods by Webb Keane (.ePUB) A mind-expanding exploration of the ethical bonds we share with the nonhuman Moral relationships saturate the living world, and the line between the human and nonhuman is blurrier than we might think. Animals, Robots, Gods provides a bold new vision of ethics defined less by the individual mind or society and more by our interactions with those around us, whether they are the pets we keep, the gods we believe in, or the machines we endow with life. Drawing on pioneering fieldwork around the globe by some of today’s leading researchers, acclaimed anthropologist Webb Keane invites us to expand our moral imagination. We learn about the ethical dilemmas of South Asian animal rights activists, Balinese cockfighters, cowboys, and Japanese robot fanciers. We meet a hunter in the Yukon who explains to a bear why it must come out of hibernation and generously give itself up to him, a cancer sufferer in Thailand who sees his tumor as a reincarnated ox, and a computer that persuades users to confess their anxieties as if they were patients on a psychiatrist’s couch. Through these and other stories, Keane challenges us to rethink our most basic ideas about who—and what—we deem worthy of moral consideration. Brimming with charm, wit, and insight, Animals, Robots, Gods reveals how centuries of conversations between us and nonhumans inform our conceptions of morality and will continue to guide us in the age of AI and beyond. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Webb Keane Size 2.8MB Category Non-Fiction > Faith, Beliefs & Philosophy > Philosophy File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/eR0Sz6sS1rur https://devuploads.com/lzqmytfqk07i

The Fall of the Third Napoleon by Theo Aronson (.ePUB)+
📮 The Fall of the Third Napoleon by Theo Aronson (.ePUB)+ For centuries, until the debacle of 1870, France had been mistress of Europe and Paris the capital of the civilized world. Then suddenly, in a matter of weeks, culminating in the Prussian victory at Sedan, the centre of European gravity swung from Paris to Berlin; Germany became the dominant country on the Continent and it took two of the greatest wars mankind has ever known to oust her from this position. Under its creator, the romantic, inscrutable Napoleon III, and his beautiful Empress, Eugenie, the Second French Empire had known 'eighteen years of luxury, pleasure, recklessness and gaiety, of gallantry and incomparable elegance'. In the spring of 1870 a massive vote of confidence in the so-called Liberal Empire had seemed to assure the future of the regime; yet, by the end of the summer, the French armies had suffered ignominious defeat; the Emperor himself had been taken prisoner at Sedan, and the bewildered young Prince Imperial, robbed of his hopes of military glory, had made his escape to England. The Fall of the Third Napoleon gives both a splendidly clear-cut analysis of the reasons for the collapse of the Empire, and a sympathetic, freshly angled presentation of the two main characters - of Napoleon, hardly the 'coward of Sedan' of his enemies' imaginings, and Eugenie who, though highhanded and impetuous, was far from the war-mongering virago of popular legend. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Theo Aronson Size 1MB Category Non-Fiction > History File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/3BIEQkq9MScA https://devuploads.com/sef1luqu2i5a

Travel Diaries of Albert Einstein 1925 by Albert Einstein (.PDF)
📮 Travel Diaries of Albert Einstein 1925 by Albert Einstein (.PDF) A marvelously annotated and illustrated edition of Einstein's South America travel diary In the spring of 1925, Albert Einstein embarked on an extensive lecture tour of Argentina before continuing on to Uruguay and Brazil. In his travel diary, the preeminent scientist and humanitarian icon recorded his immediate impressions and broader reflections on the people he encountered and the locations he visited. Some of the most confounding passages reveal his uncensored views on his host nations. This edition makes available the complete journal Einstein kept on his three-month journey. In these remarkable pages, Einstein enthuses about the stunning vistas of lush vegetation in Rio de Janeiro. His flight in the skies over Buenos Aires thrills him, and he enjoys the cozy atmosphere of Montevideo. He expresses genuine admiration for the Uruguayans, harsh condescension toward the Argentinians, and ambivalent affection for the Brazilians. The illustrious visitor seeks calm refuge on the long ocean voyages, far from the madding crowds of Europe, but the grueling lecture schedule and the adoration of the local masses exhaust him. This edition features stunning facsimiles of the diary's pages accompanied by an English translation, an extensive historical introduction, numerous illustrations, and editorial annotations.
