The Unlikely War Hero by Marc Leepson (.ePUB)
📮 The Unlikely War Hero by Marc Leepson (.ePUB) On April 6, 1967, twenty-year-old U.S. Navy Seaman Apprentice Doug Hegdahl fell off his ship, a guided-missile cruiser, in the Gulf of Tonkin. Close to exhaustion after nearly four hours in the water, he was picked up by a small fishing boat and soon found himself in Hỏa Lò Prison, the notorious North Vietnamese POW camp the prisoners called the Hanoi Hilton. Under intense interrogation, Hegdahl pretended to be a country bumpkin who could barely read or write. His captors fell for the ruse, calling him “The Incredibly Stupid One.” But Doug Hegdahl was far from stupid. Possessing a razor-sharp memory, during the next two years he memorized the names of 254 fellow prisoners and senior officers ordered him to accept an early release. After coming home in August 1969, Hegdahl shocked his debriefers by rattling off the names of the men. Hanoi had admitted holding only a few dozen, although the U.S. military had reliable intel on scores of others. With Hegdahl’s names, 63 missing servicemen were reclassified to Prisoners of War. But that’s not all. In addition to divulging the names, Doug Hegdahl told the Pentagon about the systematic torturing of the American POWs in Hanoi and reported many other hitherto unknown details about life inside the Hanoi POW camps. The new information became an important factor in North Vietnam’s fall 1969 decision to make life immeasurably easier for the 500-plus POWs held in Hanoi and assuaged the doubts and fears of dozens of POW families. In a vividly written book based on archival research, personal interviews, and his experiences in the Vietnam War, Marc Leepson, for the first time, tells the incredible tale of the youngest and lowest-ranking American POW captured in North Vietnam. Doug Hegdahl has never been properly recognized for his extraordinary efforts, and his story has never been fully told. It’s a story of survival—has own and scores of POWs. As a U.S. Navy historian put it: the North Vietnamese “made a bad mistake when they released Seaman Doug Hegdahl.” ♻️ Book's Info: Author Marc Leepson Size 2.8MB Category Non-Fiction > History File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/ckoLnD77LPuo https://devuploads.com/y84qb1nl35h3

A past that caused it to christen itself “Murderbot”. But it has only vague memories of the massacre that spawned that title, and it wants to know more. Teaming up with a Research Transport vessel named ART (you don’t want to know what the “A” stands for), Murderbot heads to the mining facility where it went rogue. What it discovers will forever change the way it thinks… Book #6 - Fugitive Telemetry Book #6 - Fugitive Telemetry The New York Times bestselling security droid with a heart (though it wouldn't admit it!) is back in Fugitive Telemetry! Having captured the hearts of readers across the globe (Annalee Newitz says it's "one of the most humane portraits of a nonhuman I've ever read") Murderbot has also established Martha Wells as one of the great SF writers of today. No, I didn't kill the dead human. If I had, I wouldn't dump the body in the station mall. When Murderbot discovers a dead body on Preservation Station, it knows it is going to have to assist station security to determine who the body is (was), how they were killed (that should be relatively straightforward, at least), and why (because apparently that matters to a lot of people—who knew?) Yes, the unthinkable is about to happen: Murderbot must voluntarily speak to humans! Again! Book #7 - System CollapseBook #7 - System Collapse Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back in the next installment in Martha Wells's bestselling and award-winning Murderbot Diaries series. Am I making it worse? I think I'm making it worse. Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly-colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there’s an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can’t have the planet, they’re sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize. But there’s something wrong with Murderbot; it isn’t running within normal operational parameters. ART’s crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza’s SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they’re going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what’s wrong with itself, and fast! Yeah, this plan is... not going to work. 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/GhMHgMRonzGT https://devuploads.com/1e7ehqy3n420

Martian Plague1. Martian Plague We expected Mars to be an escape, not a trap. A crimson, blasted, frigid trap. Maybe humans were lucky to leave Earth as cowards...or maybe they should have died trying to save it from the aliens. Because what's now arrived on this red rock may be worse than death. Aliens destroyed humanity and seized Earth. Now they have sent a terrible, unstoppable disease to the last human outposts on Mars. The doomsday clock is ticking and only criminal archaeologist Ozzy Mack can decipher the clues buried in the ancient Martian ruins...clues to the cure and the salvation of humankind. Unless it's already too late. 2. Martian Ark2. Martian Ark Mars took us in. Now it's taking us out. Mars is our last outpost, our final chance for survival. It’s also a fatal trap the alien invasion has us backed into. Mars has kept us alive for a hundred years since we fled Earth, when we had nowhere else to go. The aliens spent that century rebuilding and reorganizing. Now, they're heading our way, ready to give genocide another swing. But humanity isn't ready to die just yet—especially not criminal archaeologist Ozzy Mack. Ozzy has a task: Decode ancient glyphs to find an ultimate weapon buried long ago. Problem #1: The weapon may not exist. Problem #2: The glyphs claim only those of the right bloodline can operate it. Problem #3: No one of that bloodline exists anymore. Two interstellar enemies are about to collide, and Ozzy may have to decide between his own fate and humanity's. 3. Martian Insurrection3. Martian Insurrection The aliens seized our home and forced us to hide on Mars. Years later, they found us and attacked again. We sent them back to Earth, battered and limping...but far from destroyed. The clock is ticking. Humanity may never get a second chance to counter-attack. Which makes this the worst possible time for Mars to be governed by a High Judge hell-bent on ruling through fear, corruption, and espionage. With humanity's survival at stake, the High Judge only sees threats to his power and profits. Rebel archaeologist Ozzy Mack may hold the key to the counter-attack. If he can find an ancient relic that enhances humanity’s greatest weapon, the Ark, the offensive just might succeed. But as the launch window shrinks, Ozzy faces defeat from every side. And now the High Judge wants him dead. 4. Martian Earth4. Martian Earth Earth was our home before the invasion. Before we were forced to live on Mars. That exile ends now. We’re coming for Earth. And we're going to take it back. Hopefully. If Ozzy Mack can do the impossible. With only a small crew, Ozzy must sneak onto Earth, acquire an ancient artifact, and wipe every alien off the crumbling blue planet. Of course, the plan will only work if the artifact turns out to be real…and if Ozzy can wrap his conscience around committing alien genocide. And all of that only matters if Ozzy can cheat death with every hour spent among the enemy. 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/XS8SBaOytqR9 https://devuploads.com/vtri24yhhzq8

The Study: Inner Life of Renaissance Libraries by Andrew Hui (.PDF)
📮 The Study: Inner Life of Renaissance Libraries by Andrew Hui (.PDF) A uniquely personal account of the life and enduring legacy of the Renaissance library With the advent of print in the fifteenth century, Europe’s cultural elite assembled personal libraries as refuges from persecutions and pandemics. Andrew Hui tells the remarkable story of the Renaissance studiolo—a “little studio”—and reveals how these spaces dedicated to self-cultivation became both a remedy and a poison for the soul. Blending fresh, insightful readings of literary and visual works with engaging accounts of his life as an insatiable bookworm, Hui traces how humanists from Petrarch to Machiavelli to Montaigne created their own intimate studies. He looks at imaginary libraries in Rabelais, Cervantes, Shakespeare, and Marlowe, and discusses how Renaissance painters depicted the Virgin Mary and St. Jerome as saintly bibliophiles. Yet writers of the period also saw a dark side to solitary reading. It drove Don Quixote to madness, Prospero to exile, and Faustus to perdition. Hui draws parallels with our own age of information surplus and charts the studiolo’s influence on bibliographic fabulists like Jorge Luis Borges and Umberto Eco. Beautifully illustrated, The Study is at once a celebration of bibliophilia and a critique of bibliomania. Incorporating perspectives on Islamic, Mughal, and Chinese book cultures, it offers a timely and eloquent meditation on the ways we read and misread today. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Andrew Hui Size 69MB Category Non-Fiction > History File Type PDF 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/I1ew4BHHZ1qD https://devuploads.com/wuagrc69u3ua

In Trump's Shadow by David M. Drucker (.ePUB)
📮 In Trump's Shadow by David M. Drucker (.ePUB) Based on extensive reporting, a Game of Thrones-like telling of what comes next for the factions and families within the Republican Party as they plot for supremacy in the post-Trump era. With Trump's four years in the White House now in the rearview, an unprecedented period in American political history is concluded. The transition, however, has set off a mad scramble for control of a Republican Party that for so long has reflected the domineering image of one man—and might even still in the years ahead. Who emerges from the warring factions and familial rivalries that proliferated and quietly festered during Trump's presidency could determine the fate of the GOP for a generation, and the first hint of what's to come begins with the 2024 campaign to crown the first Republican nominee, and national party leader, of the post-Trump era. With Trump's exit, a singular era in American political history has ended—and the Republican Party, whose identity had for so long been centered around one man, will be forced to redefine itself for the future. Featuring profiles of everyone from Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, and Nikki Haley to Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, and those in the Trump family, IN TRUMP'S SHADOW tells the story of a GOP under—and after—the forty-fifth president, and all of those jousting for influence over the party's direction in the wake of Donald Trump. ♻️ Book's Info: Author David M. White Feminism by Koa Beck (.ePUB)+
📮 White Feminism by Koa Beck (.ePUB)+ Fourth-wave feminism preaches empowerment for women, centering an intersectionality that has been missing from the start. Long before the Lean In phenomenon and branded empowerment conferences, women have been encouraged to “find their power” and to “know their value” when combatting institutional sexism. But we’ve also funded patriarchal institutions that have cashed in on “feminism” without actually making a real difference in the lives of the women they supposedly uplift. From the formation of the suffragette movement over a century ago to the Women’s March in 2017, mainstream feminism has been defined by parameters dictated and sanctioned by the white women they most benefit. In White Feminism, Koa Beck details the conventions that marginalized genders have needed to adopt in order to be recognized and exposes how Indigenous, Black, brown, transgender, disabled, and undocumented women, among other disenfranchised peoples, have been overlooked in order to champion a different feminist narrative. With insights spanning from the rise of girl bosses to widespread civil unrest during a global pandemic, Beck illuminates how white feminism adheres to a political strategy that commercializes struggle and reinforces white Western supremacy. ♻️ Book's Info: Author Koa Beck Size 2.78MB Category Non-Fiction > History > Social Justice > Race > Politics > Feminism > Women File Type ePUB 📥 Download Links: https://uploda.sh/US1OEgP1bnw6 https://devuploads.com/jxh8u6h3mblc

An Ingenious Excuse by John and Nancy Lankenau (.ePUB)
📮 An Ingenious Excuse by John and Nancy Lankenau (.ePUB) On the morning of September 2, 1798, just after first light, the back door to Carpenters' Hall is discovered ajar. Gold, silver, banknotes-the vast riches of a well-guarded bank vault-all of it gone without a trace. Frantic bankers secure an arrest warrant for the clever blacksmith who worked on the vault doors, a young Scot who crossed the ocean like thousands of others on America's promise of liberty and opportunity. After Death by Francois J. Bonnet (.ePUB)
📮 After Death by Francois J. Bonnet (.ePUB) A disturbing portrait of a society deliriously dreaming itself as eternal, instantaneous, and infinite. At least for the time being, we humans are still finite and mortal—but death isn't what it used to be. As the body is technologically extended in space and time, we are split between our finitude and our doubled presence in a limitless web of signs, an “immortal” world of information. After Death offers a penetrating philosophical diagnosis of our contemporary condition, describing not only an anesthesia, but an amnesia in which the compulsions of a hyper-present colonize both past and future, prevailing over any sense of duration, becoming, or appreciation of the “thickness of the real.” Are we living in a kind of counterfeit eternity in which we are effectively already dead? Against the anxiety of the constant present, how can we hope to return to the experience of being in time and facing death? ♻️ Book's Info: Author Francois J.
