šŸ“® The Nearly Dearly Departed Club Series by Anthony Grace (.ePUB)

Anthony Grace is possibly the most boring person on the planet. Donā€™t let that put you off his books, though. Theyā€™re the exact opposite of the author. Theyā€™re exciting. Gripping. Unputdownable. They zip along at a tremendous pace whilst he simply plods and stumbles. They are packed full of sharp, snappy dialogue whereas he speaks in a monotonous mumble, reminiscent of a frustrated walrus. Donā€™t be fooled by the smile either. Itā€™s fake. Perfected through years of staring in the mirror, preparing for this very moment.

1. The Nearly Dearly Departed Club

1. The Nearly Dearly Departed Club - Four people with one thing in common. Theyā€™re all dead. Deceased and departed. No longer with us. Or maybe not ā€¦ Teenager Benji Hammerton has gone quiet. Worryingly so. Fearing the worst, his parents turn to the one person who might be able to help. Agatha Pleasant, an ageing secret agent who operates largely in the shadows, unburdened by rules and regulations. As luck would have it, Agatha has a batch of new recruits at her disposal. Untapped potential desperately in need of work experience. Enter the Nearly Dearly Departed Club. Their search takes them to Stainmouth, a grim Northern town with little to offer except bitter winds and a toxic atmosphere. With a life hanging in the balance, they hunt tirelessly for the missing boy. They make friends along the way, but also enemies. The kind of enemies that think nothing of taking a life if the need arises. As tensions mount, and the risks start to outweigh the rewards, the team question their involvement. Their purpose. Their future. Is any of it really worth dying for? Especially when youā€™re dead already ā€¦

2. Lost Souls Forever

2. Lost Souls Forever - For better or worse, the Nearly Dearly Departed Club are back ... and this time it's a matter of life and death. Or rather, stay alive long enough to protect the dead. That's the plan, at least. But then what do they say about best laid plans? Thereā€™s been a death at HM Prison Stainmouth. The corpse in question is one Impetus Stokes, criminal mastermind, found dead in his cell from an overdose. For no obvious reason, Agatha Pleasant's team of squabbling misfits are assigned the task of collecting his coffin, sitting on it for a few days before handing it over to the necessary authorities. It makes no sense whatsoever, but then why break the habit of a lifetime? Besides, how hard can it be to watch over a coffin? Very hard, as it happens. Practically impossible. Especially when the dead refuse to stay dead. Something that the Nearly Dearly Departed Club are only too aware of themselves.

3. A Day For Letting Go

3. A Day For Letting Go - Cole Burroughs is a man on the edge. On the edge of what exactly nobody is entirely sure, but with the threat of violence inevitable, and lives on the line, good sense dictates that he should be kept under surveillance at all times. With police resources at a barrel-scraping low, that unenviable task falls into the lap of Agatha Pleasant and her shadowy squad of indiscriminate nobodies. Also known as her Nearly Dearly Departed Club. The problems donā€™t just start and end with Cole Burroughs, though. Mercy Mee is still missing in action for fear of a life behind bars, whilst Rose Carrington-Finch has got herself a new boyfriend whom Agatha seems wary of. So, thatā€™s two men that need to be watched. Two men who could easily rock the already shaky foundations of The Nearly Dearly Departed Club to its very core. Take a breath and hold on tight, because chances are not everyone will get out of this alive ...

5. A Man Of Great Promise

5. A Man Of Great Promise - Jerome ā€˜Dukeā€™ Ellington has got big ambitions to change the world. Unfortunately for him, nobody else seems to be on his wavelength. A lone voice in the wilderness, he has to find other ways to get his point across. Less talk, more action. So, when peaceful discussion turns to violent protests on the streets of Stainmouth, the call goes out to Agatha Pleasant to find a solution to the increasingly volatile situation. She, in turn, draws on her backfiring bunch of disparate undesirables. Lucas. Mercy. Tommy. And Rose. Her Nearly Dearly Departed Club. With New Yearā€™s Eve fast approaching, any thoughts of celebrating are cast to one side as events escalate quickly. Death is now a genuine possibility. Duke needs to be immobilised, preferably before itā€™s too late. Thereā€™s only one problem, though. How do you stop a man who seems hell-bent on destruction?
