đź“® D.I. Jack Dylan series by R.C Bridgestock (.ePUB)

RC Bridgestock is a co-author team between husband and wife Robert (Bob) & Carol Bridgestock. With nearly half a century of combined police experience, we try to bring unique insight and experience from how real life cases are conducted into our fiction. Our hope is that this adds authenticity rarely seen in British crime fiction, coupled with warmth, humour and humanity that we experienced during our careers. If you've read any of our stories we hope you enjoyed being immersed in the world we create as much as we enjoyed imagining it and that our passion for entertaining crime fiction coupled with our insight into the enquiry room of a major case comes from the pages of our work.

01. Deadly Focus:

01. Deadly Focus: When a young girl disappears yards from her own front door, Detective Inspector Jack Dylan has to shelve his plans for a quiet Christmas with his partner, Jen. The Yorkshire community of Harrowfield is unsettled and its worst fears confirmed when the naked body of Daisy Hind is found on a bleak, windswept moor. As the murder investigation gets underway, a second child is abducted. This time a small body is found hanging from a bridge. With the press increasingly on his back, Dylan has to catch a serial killer before another child is abducted.

03. White Lilies:

03. White Lilies: Two separate fatal road accidents killing three people are a cause for concern. Then the body of an elderly lady is found in her home, with a cause for suspicious death. A newly promoted Detective Sergeant arrives but she is not as much an asset as a distraction. In different locations, two girls are brutally attacked and it is thought the events might be linked but how is not clear. One or two local rogues could be responsible and are prime suspects. Arrests are to be made when a brutal attack on the occupants of the flat is discovered. One person is dead with horrific injuries and another is fighting for life. Work once again is dictating Dylan’s life and a heavily pregnant partner Jen is sidelined. A young boy is stabbed and an elderly lady is taken hostage at knifepoint in a subway. Dylan is called to take charge. Whilst Dylan is confronted by a madman, Jen goes into labour alone and collapses unconscious. Both are life threatening situations that need a quick resolution, and once again Dylan is spinning numerous plates at once.

04. Snow Kills:

04. Snow Kills: When hairdresser Kayleigh Harwood is reported missing by her mother in the worst blizzards Harrowfield has experienced in years, D.I. Jack Dylan and his team are called in. Kayleigh's car is found abandoned with her mobile phone inside but there is no sign of her. At the edge of the local quarry on the desolate Yorkshire moors, items of clothing are found. They are identified as belonging to the hairdresser, and an intense police search of the area begins. The investigation turns to a loner living close to where Kayleigh's car was discovered, and it soon becomes apparent to the investigators that the loner is hiding a bizarre secret. To Dylan's disbelief Divisional Commander Hugo-Watkins assumes that skeletal remains found in a lay-by are connected to the young woman's disappearance, and without seeking Dylan's advice, calls out the entire Major Incident Team. Refusing to be distracted, Dylan and his team continue to work round the clock in the hope of finding Kayleigh alive. Meanwhile Dylan's wife, Jen, is distracted and distant. Unbeknown to him her ex fiancé is in their midst, and stalking her.

05. Reprobates:

05. Reprobates: After a burglary at the mortuary, the body of 30-year-old Kirsty Gallagher goes missing - but the body that searchers find belongs to someone else The Harrowfield mortuary has been robbed, and Kirsty Gallagher's body disappears. Nearby, uniformed police are searching the canal along with a small diving squad, following the discovery of some clothes by the bank side. The body of a naked man is hoisted from the murky depths. His ankles are tied by a piece of rope connected to concrete. Kirsty's decomposing corpse is eventually found and an arrest is made which leads to a network of men whom D.I. Dylan can only describe as reprobates.

06. Killer Smile:

06. Killer Smile: A killer with a macabre passion for human teeth stalks the residents of Harrowfield. Three linked murders means Assistant Chief Constable Wendy Smythe is brought in to take ultimate charge of the serial murder investigation, and she is adamant on managing the task akin to a drama. Dylan has to dig deep to remain professional. Chilling, ultimate and full of menace. There is dark suspicion that nobody is safe until the perpetrator is apprehended. Will the ring of steel wrapped around Harrowfield bring the psychopath to justice? Coupled with the fact Dylan and Jen’s daughter Maisy is hospitalised with an undiagnosed serious illness; Jack is under pressure on all fronts. On a happier note Jen’s dad Ralph, introduces the pair to his new lady friend but all is not as rosy as it seems three hundred miles away on the Isle of Wight, when her son brings the police to their door. Dylan shares intelligence with The National Crime Agency which brings back a deep seated anguish of fallen colleague DS Larry Banks. Can he help them capture the boss of an international drugs cartel, and if so will it bring Dylan closure?

07. When the Killing Starts:

07. When the Killing Starts: The death of a local evil is only a sign of a more terrifying threat... Crime is a way of life for the Devlin brothers. Groomed at an early age and trained as criminals by local gangsters, they get their thrills out of instilling terror amongst their victims. The brothers’ macabre pact? Never to be arrested or caged. Brutality hits the town of Harrowfield when the scourge of the community is found dead, his companion slaughtered. The locals react with praise for the killers. The same day firefighters respond to a fire but lose the fight to save Merton Manor. Amongst the debris two bodies are discovered; executed. As DI Jack Dylan struggles to cope with the pressure, armed officers await his judgement call. Can he remain professional, or will he release his anger?
