📮 Sand in their Vaginas by Vesna Tenodi (.ePUB)

When reviewing this book, I found it to be a delightful combination of art and archaeology, and comes as a natural and logical continuation of the works by the author who is highly qualified in both fields. It is another honest and courageous book by Vesna Tenodi, who was repeatedly abused, harassed, and vilified by her detractors over more than a decade. Her earlier works were attacked by both aborigines and the aboriginal industry, which maligned her without either reading her books and articles, or trying to understand her art. Vesna Tenodi remains undeterred, ignores the irrational objectors, and she still chooses to operate outside of the politically enforced glorification of some invented “ancient culture” and its fake spirituality. She is obviously not going to yield to the pressures of her critics, and her determination to keep exposing the lies as made up by the hypocrites and sycophants (as she defines the Australian aboriginal industry) is thought-provoking and admirable. It was heart-warming to see that – despite her enemies’ extreme efforts to destroy her reputation – Tenodi has gained cooperation and support of a number of Australian and Canadian leading intellectuals, as well as of many artists from all parts of the world, who have joined her artistic projects in order to reclaim our freedom of expression in general, and artistic freedom in particular. This book might be met with rage by some and praise by others, but certainly wouldn’t leave anybody indifferent. Artworks are well chosen and enjoyable, while the author’s commentary is intriguing, well summed-up and highly informative.
