#1 - Send living shadows to drag me to another world? They better be ready for a fight! I’ve always been a scrapper, so when I was snatched from my world by shadow creatures and hauled to another one, I did as I’d always done. I fought. But I still didn’t know anything about where I was. My luck was in, because I quickly had the good fortune of meeting a sexy prophetess and a gorgeous, blue-skinned, redheaded mage who said she was something called a moonwisp. Yeah, magic was a thing. The problem with that? Everyone in the world had some. Magic, that is. Everyone but me. I guess that’s what I get for coming from a non-magic world. But I’m not the complaining type. I pulled up my big boy pants and started the search for my best friend, Lucas, who had also been abducted. I have to admit, I was more than a little pissed off at the shadow monsters. Enough that I planned on tearing apart every one of them I came across. Funny thing: as I searched, I found people mistaking me for some long-dead hero. I didn’t know anything about that, but I did know one thing. Regardless of what else happened, I was going to find my friend. With my newly acquired companions by my side, I would burn this new world down if that’s what it took to find Lucas. I don’t know if shadows can be terrified, but I sure aim to find out.

#2 - Getting hammered… After the heartbreaking events in Greyveil, my sexy blue-skinned companion Brin, my irritating satyr tagalong Tip, and I head to Forgehaven. The city obsessed with turning metal into anything one could wish for. While searching the city for Brin’s missing magical items, I literally run into a gorgeous green woman. A goblin girl. Her father, a renowned blacksmith, has been murdered and she needs help finding out who did the deed. With no other leads on how we’ll find our way to dispense justice to the ones responsible for my best friend’s death, we agree to help her. You know what, though? Solving a murder mystery isn’t as easy as the super-sleuths in movies and books make it seem. There’s more going on in the city than just one man being killed. We have our tasks. Solve the murder. Find Brin’s magic items. Figure out how we’re going to destroy the demigod sending shadow monsters to other worlds to drag people to this new world to be drained of their lives. People like me. Like my best friend Lucas. Sounds easy enough, right? Don’t count on it. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life will kick you in the nuts, given the chance. Well, I plan on doing some kicking myself.

#3 - Two-edged sword… A gorgeous elf swordswoman bent on revenge in a kingdom where the sword is everything? Not what I had in mind when Brin, Tyra, Tip, and I went hunting more bad guys. But hey, did I mention the gorgeous elf woman? Sariel Snowblossom has a problem. One we can help her with. To get justice, she must undertake the trials to become a swordmaster. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. In addition to defeating skilled sword wielders all over the Aesturith Kingdom in a dueling circuit, there are other dangers about. Thugs, assassins, and umbrenix, just for starters, most of them set on preventing Sariel from getting to the next contest. Making it to the capital city for the final duel is a treacherous journey in itself, only for her to put her life on the line once again when we get there. We’ll do it, though. Not only so our sexy elf can complete her quest, but so we can get one step closer to destroying the demigod who took me from my world and killed my best friend. It’s just one more thing to deal with in this new world I’ve found myself in. We may be dueling and training all day long, but damn, the nights make it all worthwhile. I need to use my weapon as often as I can, after all.

#4 - Cat and mouse… On the suggestion of my exquisite prophetess Qamara, we’re heading to the Traisel Commonwealth, a land of myriad beastkin communities. I’m not sure what we’ll find there, but I expect my uninvited frequent visitor will make an appearance. You’d think that having a smoking hot catgirl following you around would be a good thing, but it’s not in this case. She’s an assassin, and she’s tried to kill me several times already. Truly a bad kitty. With my knockout moonwisp Brin, my delectable goblin crafter Tyra, and my indescribably beautiful elf swordmaster Sariel, we’ll search this new land for leads on where to find the demigod Aeyr. So I can put an end to him once and for all. Of course, there are dangers other than misbehaving felines and super-powerful mages. We’ll have to take care of those, too. It's part of the job for a reluctant hero. While we’re at it, maybe we’ll get lucky and find a way to make the feral catgirl purr. It’d be a shame to have to put her down. This new world I’m in can use all the catgirls it can get. Any world can, really. They say black cats are bad luck. I’m hoping to turn that superstition on its head. If I can survive the claws.

#5 - The search is on! The body of the latest minion of the demigod Aeyr was barely cold when we found our next urgent task. Some dude calling himself the Searcher, on the hunt for explorers and scholars, with the goal of ending their careers…and their lives. At the top of the list is Lirien, a kangaroo beastkin Brin has worked with before. My bevy of sexy women and I saddled up and made a beeline for Olliaran, land of the elves and the motherload of archaeological sites. Lirien is an explorer, made from the same mold as a certain raider of tombs, looking for something our enemy did not want found. Our job? Simple. We have to find the woman in a vast region of feuding elves, underground ruins, and monsters; convince her that a small army of bad guys was out to kill her; and get her to safety. It all seemed doable. Until we found the kangaroo girl we were looking for. Unwilling to give up her own quest, we are now officially grunt labor, helping her scour ancient cities for an important cache of artifacts. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the gorgeous beastkin is—how can I say this delicately?—unstable. Though “batshit crazy” might be a more accurate term. Yeah. So we’re searching, the Searcher is searching, and the woman we were searching for is searching for her own things as well. It’s enough to make a guy want to search for a nice vacation spot. After we protect Lirien and add a notch on our weapons for killing yet another one of the demigod’s lieutenants, of course.

#6 - Welcome to the Jungle! Trying to find a needle in the proverbial haystack. That is our mission, if the needle is a sexy, badass scholar and the haystack is thousands of miles of thick jungle. Dayra Gesha, a friend of Lirien’s and the smartest person she had ever met, was in danger, and we had to help. It wasn’t completely one-sided, though. Dayra just might have the knowledge to help us crack the nut that was the fortress ruins where we might find the demigod Aeyr. You know, to put an end to him. But finding a single person in the jungles of Teaphotria was not just difficult, it was dangerous. With myriads of monsters and even simple insects and plants able to kill on contact or with a single bite, we needed a guide. The one we found turned out to be quite the companion, a jaguar girl with the skills to get us through the jungle while looking spectacular doing so. Did I mention that we didn’t only have to find Dayra before the Searcher found her, but that someone else was after us as well? Yeah, someone calling himself the Weaponsmaster. He apparently didn’t like it that others had called me by that name. It looked like he and I would be discussing the matter. Violently. Mutated monsters, a missing scholar, the Searcher up to his typical homicidal activities, and a martial arts master wanting to fight me to the death to keep his title? Yep, all of those things got a big fat checkmark on the list. Just another life-or-death day in the jungle.

#7 - Sea Change… I’ll just say it. I hate secret doors with magical locks. So much. You would think after all my smoking hot companions and I had been through, we could catch a break. I mean, Dayra, every librarian fantasy rolled up into one with a dash of badassery, even found a magical book to help us. But no. Now we’re on our way to the mysterious land of Sauvaxera, heading toward the ocean. Why? To find the lost race of sirens, of course! Their voice magic is the only chance we have left to move on with our quest. Getting there is enough of an adventure, but when we finally meet our first underwater hottie, it’s not quite what we’d expected. Her rage against surface dwellers—that would be us—is palpable. Coralei, queen of the sirens, wasn’t keen on helping us, but she needed aid as well. Could we work something out that would leave everyone happy? I sure hoped so. If not, we’d never find what was behind the secret fortress door, and the entire siren race might be wiped off the face of Valorae. Same old thing, right? Wrong. This time, we had to deal with all the problems in a different type of terrain: under the surface of the ocean. My girls were all about to get wet, and not in the good way.

#8 - Closing in… From almost the first day I arrived in Valorae, having been abducted by dark magical creatures, I’ve had one thing on my mind: kill the demigod Aeyr. For all those he’s slain, including my best friend. Here I am, with the friends and family I’ve gathered while fighting for my life in this strange world. A world so different from my own. One thing is universal, though. Tyrants whose sole purpose is to exploit and destroy people need to be put down. In Valorae, somehow, the task fell to me. Not that I’m complaining. If anyone is going to destroy the thousand-year-old villain who literally drains the life force from others to gain power, I’d rather it be me. The one big problem we face is finding our enemy. He’s hiding, I’m sure of it. Waiting until he’s gained enough power to overwhelm any opposition. But we’re closing in. Sure, we’re following a weak trail, but it is a trail. We’ll find him and end him. The only questions are what we’ll face along the way and if we lose any of our small number doing so. There’s also the small issue of how to kill a magical entity who survived the full strength of an army of the world’s greatest power centuries ago. It’s time for Aeyr the Ever-Hungering to die. And this time, it needs to stick.
